History students at Sunnydale High have been invited to spend the weekend at scenic Purdy, California, a Gold Rush-era town that recreates life in the 1860's.  Giles has been wrangled by Principal Snyder to be one of the chaperones for the trip.

     The gang spent the afternoon before their trip in the school library, checking into any information that they can find on the historic town.  What could possibly be wrong?  Surely it will be a nice, relaxing weekend.

     The Slayer and her friends have been joined by the mildly gothic Tabitha and the mysterious Devon.

     Once school ended, along with a disagreement with her friends, Willow decided that she has grown tired of being the meek always-willing-to-please girl-next-door.  She is undergoing a complete makeover, with the help of the terribly fashionable Cordelia Chase.

    Buffy, Xander, Tabitha and Devon were set to party the night away at The Bronze, but the popular hangout was burned to the ground!  The lead suspect is Jay "Mooch" Marsh, a SHS senior more interested in getting loaded than getting educated.

    Giles has been invited to Jenny Calendar's home for "further investigation."
