Players may have one primary character apiece. This is so that all creative energies may be placed within that one character.
All player characters in Sunnydale Class Trip are students at Sunnydale High, with a couple exceptions. A character can be a S.H.S. student that we are acquainted with from the television show, a made-up character who is a student, or faculty members Rupert Giles or Jenny Calendar.
All PCs are potentially a part of the inner circle of the Scooby Gang, if not already. A player character may initially be an outsider or a disbeliever, but it will be necessary later in the game that all characters are able to work toward the ultimate goal of the game.
It is vital that the canon characters of the series are filled, especially Buffy, Xander, Willow, Giles and Cordelia. The players who portray these characters, especially the first three, should be regular players.
Other series characters include, but are not limited to: Amy, Jonathan, Larry and Harmony. Oz can be played too--he just arrives a little early (werewolf or not should be explained in the character request).
The following series characters should not be chosen: Angel, Faith, Spike, Dru, Dawn, Tara and Anya. Hopefully the game will progress to the point where some of the later characters can be added. At this time they do not fit within my story goals. As mentioned elsewhere, Angel will be an NPC brotherly guide to Buffy. Faith will not appear. As for Spike and Dru....
Established characters may have skills to the point that they did toward the beginning of the second season of the series. Buffy is The Slayer, but not as trained as she is in the sixth season. If you play Willow, she can be interested in spells, but she isn't skilled yet. Amy Madison will have a little more ability at the beginning of the game.
Made-up characters are fine, especially if the main characters are being played. Be warned--I will not accept made-up characters with super powers or greater than normal abilities! Made-up characters should be Sunnydale High students like the ones that we have seen on the television show. That is not to say that they should be perfectly normal. Who is in Sunnydale? Secrets abound within the halls of S.H.S. Go ahead and develop one or more for your made-up. They should have strengths as well as weaknesses. The made-up character doesn't have to be fully designed to begin with. It can be fleshed out as we go along.
